At Swerve, we do more than just teach your teen the rules of the road.
At our driving school, you’ll work with dedicated instructors who help build confidence behind the wheel and encourage students to become skilled, safe, and responsible drivers.
We offer a Driver’s Ed Program in Washington state that includes:

Our curriculum is based on a proven method that helps teens become better drivers. We will help you prepare for both the written and driving test.
How to Get a Drivers License in Washington
Getting a drivers license is an exciting time for teens. It represents a lot of freedom and mobility. They’re probably looking forward getting out on the open road and going places on their own. Before that happens, though, Washington has some requirements that must be met.
- They must be at least 16 years old to receive a license (enrollment in driver training can happen at 15)
- They must complete a new driver training course
- They must pass the Washington state written exam
- They must pass the Washington state road exam
- Washington requires that new drivers must then hold their permits for at least 6 months
- During that time, these drivers must put in 50 hours of practice driving (10 of which must be done at night)
Teen Driving Classes
Getting a Driver’s License for the first time is an exciting experience. It represents the freedom and independence that most teens have been anxiously waiting for.
Parents, on the other hand, may feel anxious for completely different reasons. You want your kids to be safe while they’re out on the road, which is why the Swerve Washington teen Driver’s Ed courses are specifically designed to teach new drivers how to handle unexpected situations on the road while always obeying traffic laws.
Our teen program focuses on building the student’s knowledge and skills. We want them to know how they should react in any given situation, and have the skills to react quickly and confidently.
Our program was designed to make sure every student can fully retain this information so they can continue to drive safely even after the class is done.
Your teen may be excited to get out on the road and experience this new freedom, but we’ll make sure they understand the traffic laws, the dangers of distracted driving, and the skills they need to stay safe.
Adult Driving Classes
Our Washington drivers ed courses for adults are tailored to fit into your busy schedule while still delivering the information and experience you need.
All of our adult lessons are customized to your needs, so we can work on anything you wish to get ready for your road test. You can start by selecting the location that is nearest you to see what packages are available.
All the lessons are done in our school instruction vehicles, so you don’t need your own insurance to take the lessons. Simply register today and we’ll help you complete the classes in a timely manner so you can get out on the road.
What to Expect at the Driving Test
Our Washington driving school is a state-approved testing center that offers both road and knowledge testing.
The knowledge test is a 40-question multiple choice exam, and the student will need to score over 80% to pass. Before you take this test, you will need to obtain a valid WA State DLN number.
The student will also need to score over 80% on the road test to pass. These scores will then be entered into the DOL database, which will then determine if the applicant has met all the necessary requirements.
